Some commonly asked questions.
DSL
If I have a router, can I use it?
In short, it should work. Most DSL modems will work with our service. Most routers will work when accompanied by a DSL modem. Because there are still differing technologies and types of DSL, only the equipment that we provide is guaranteed to work with our DSL service. Check with your InReach Consultant today to be sure.
Can I setup a Network with DSL?
It is possible with the right hardware to setup a network with DSL, although we only provide limited support of setup and troubleshooting of networks. With all the different combinations of hardware and software involved with networking, it is virtually impossible to support over the phone.
How many computers can I hook up?
While with the right equipment and setup you can connect as many computers as you like to your DSL connection, we offer only limited support for networks.
Is the speed guaranteed?
DSL speeds are offered on a best-effort basis.
How will this connect to my computer?
The DSL connection usually connects to your computer via an Ethernet port or USB port. Most PCs will require a Network Interface Card (NIC or Ethernet Card) to be installed. You are responsible for the purchase and installation of that card. Most modern Macintosh computers already have an Ethernet port built right in, so Mac users probably won't need to install a separate NIC (if you are not sure, look behind your Mac for an extra-large phone-style jack marked with <···> ).
When can I expect to get my router or bridge installed after ordering?
If you have selected the self-installation option, you may receive your equipment in as little as a week after ordering. Generally, you will receive the equipment on or before the activation date. If you have selected the professional option, your equipment will be delivered by the installer.
I want a LAN in my house/business? Do you supply or sell any of that equipment?
We do not sell, supply nor install LAN equipment. There are a lot of options for routers and bridges available at most computer stores and they are becoming more affordable and user friendly all the time.
Will the installer supply Cat-5 wiring or do I need to purchase that before they come?
The technician that visits your location will bring all the necessary wiring for a standard installation.
How can you offer DSL where it was not previously available?
We have partnered with several DSL networking providers. This has allowed us to provide a wide variety of DSL technology options, which can reach many more cities and greater distances than originally allowed. Call us at (888) 467-3224 and let us see if you qualify for DSL today.

How much does this "NIC" cost?

Am I responsible for inside wiring if it's needed?
